The Little Menace born in between the moist concrete walls of Amsterdam queer club culture, a performance creature for (night)stages that exists sonically as well as visually.
Deeply emotional.
The Little Menace (TLM) is a collaborative music and theatrical project by Lana van der Brug and Rein Postma. As part of the Amsterdam queer nightlife, we noticed performance is often treated as an interruption to the dancefloor and therefore banned to a different stage, or even outside the club(?)! With TLM we aim to change this. We believe high-energy club culture and storytelling can co-exist to create a deeper resonance
TLM show is a 1 hour live performance that mixes dark minimal soundscapes and (deconstructed) dance music with theatrical drag. TLM is a non-binary persona driven by intense, unfiltered emotions, that are normally repressed in our society. We think that, especially now that fascism and genocidal complicity are playing out in our society, we need to give more space to anger and be loud. For TLM, we also take inspiration from our own lives trying to shake the stigma of our own diagnosis away. Musically we like to play with the quiet, the loud and the absurd. Our sounds reigns in between abstract moody soundscapes to deconstructed gabber. The point is to feel the music and make your body want to move from that place of feeling.
