Title: Come Unity – An Immersive Performance That Breaks theater and Gender Norms
By: Lana van der Brug
Premiered at Amsterdam Fringe Festival 2025
An immersive performance about the lonely search for community through dance drag and club scene where you don’t just watch — you’re part of it.
Come Unity, the latest work by drag king and movement artist Lana van der Brug, blurs the boundaries between dance, drag, an interactive participatory performance piece. Premiered at the Amsterdam Fringe Festival 2025 and open for bookings now, Come Unity invites the audience to experience the vulnerability in opening yourself to connect with others through shared experiences and movement.
When I was born, I was already in drag. As a vibrant drag king, I dance enthusiastically through life, searching for my people. But who is my community, really? Am I alone?
This is the beginning of a performance where dance, drag, and personal stories come together. Come Unity is a journey that seeks to shed new light on the concept of community in a quest to discover what we have in common with each other.
It is an invitation to explore the boundaries of connection and self-expression—together with the audience. In this theatrical experience, Lana guides the audience on a search for acceptance, understanding, and beyond. Through explosive dance, extravagant drag costumes, and a candid approach to vulnerability, connection is not just talked about—it’s truly felt.
